Burning Bush

The symbol of a “burning bush” was created and preserved for us through all three religions that developed in the Mid-East and still thrive: Christian, Jewish, and Muslim. For Christians, the story of the Burning Bush is preserved in the Old Testament. What was the intended lesson, and why is it still relevant today? Well, disasters happen. Hurricanes, lightning, tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, tidal waves - and devastating wildfires. In this sculpture, natural disasters are referenced by natural cracks, which the viewer may explore – carefully. Conclusion: the “burning bush” of civilization may catch fire, but we will learn, and adjust, and remake our lives again and again, if necessary.
