“Brain Block” Orange 13 x 10 x 10 Our brains are remarkable – not only for remembering things and solving mysteries, but also for blocking memories of serious traumas while we recover, mentally and physically. That’s not why I designed and carved this sculpture. (I’ve wondered for years just what it was and what it signified.) But there have been a number of articles in the media about victims of violence or disasters whose memory of the awfulness was blocked for a period of time. Essentially, their brains walled off the unbearable pain and provided the victims with a period of healing and recovery. Maybe that is what this sculpture is about.
