Siy Gallery exhibition highlights veteran suicide epidemic by artist Colin Hoffman
San Bruno, CA — The exhibition “Trigger Warning” by U.S.M.C Colin Hoffman is now showing at Siy Gallery Atelier Showroom through July 4th, 2024. This conceptual exhibition, consisting of installation pieces, sculptures, paintings, illustrations and poetry about the causes of American deaths, leads viewers to question why some sacrifices lead to radical, immediate action, such as suicide can become an epidemic before the problem is addressed.
Artist reception will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. until 7p.m.at Siy Gallery atelier showroom Art Zone 1 in San Bruno which is located inside Tanforan mall second floor next to Target. Colin will be speaking Art Zone 2 suite 245 at the reception at 5pm. Hours for this exhibiton are Tuesday 1p-4p Wednesday 1pm- 4p and Thursday 1pm - 4pm.
This exhibition stresses that no suicidal loss is acceptable. It will teach attendees how to act with care and compassion if they encounter a person who is suicidal.
These events are free and open to the public.
About the Artist
Colin "Big C" Hoffman is a marine veteran from the San Francisco Bay Area, who is looking to bring about understanding and change to the serious issues surrounding mental health and suicide amongst U.S. military veterans. He is a visual artist, author and poet, who uses his own experience with depression and other issues caused by his PTSD to shine a light on the veteran suicide epidemic.
Hoffman holds a bachelor degree in speech communications and a Masters in public administration. He began his art professionally in 2012. He is using this project and art to bring change to our current epidemic among veterans, and he also uses his art as his own therapy.
