Oil. 16" x 20" x 1.5"
Description: I work with the lusciousness of oil paint. Contrasting light and shadows are explored through use of vivid complementary colors, abstract design principles, and compositional strategies. This painting is reflective of the current serious situation, but with a bit of humor.
Artist Statement: This painting reflects a point in time, early on in the pandemic, when there was a simplicity in the messaging around preventative action—wash. In my approach to painting, shapes and imagery are also simplified, creating relationships between objects. Complexities and subtleties of colors further define the space. Contrasting light and shadows are explored through use of vivid complementary colors, abstract design principles, and compositional strategies.
