Oil on canvas. 30" x 24" x 1"
Description: A self-portrait as a nurse practitioner who works in a hospital whose primary mission is to provide hope despite difficult medical, financial, social situations that many patients have to fight against.
Artist Statement: These are self portraits to show the strength, tenacity, and fighting spirit in a Japanese traditional samurai armor and in my white coat. During the time of shelter-in-place, I was lucky enough to go to my studio in town but I did not see anybody or talk to anybody. I just went to my studio to paint. It is my therapy to paint. On the other hand, I am also a healthcare provider and I continue to go to the clinic to help whoever needed help. My hope is to show the strength of a woman in a unique fashion, showing her fight, symbolizing everyone fighting each one of our fight, in the context of our global fight against COVID-19.
